Crave Duet Vibrator Review

When Vibrant offered us the Crave Duet in exchange for a review, we were already a bit back-logged with our review queue, but there was something about the two tips that intrigued us about the Duet. Also, Vibrant has been nothing but amazing so we couldn’t tell them no!

The Basics:

The Crave Duet is a compact size vibrator that actually splits into two parts. The top with the two tips is made of silicone. It is this part of it that will be used as a vibrator. The bottom half is made of metal and this is where the motor lives. It is completely waterproof when the parts are properly connected together. The major benefit of the metal base is that the vibrations are less likely to bother your hand (or whoever’s hand). The vibrations should just focus on the silicone part of the toy, which makes it much nicer to hold than some other toys.

It has dual micro-motors that provide four vibration modes and four power levels. It has a USB rechargeable battery (takes two hours to fully charge) and it also has a battery indicator to know when you have to plug it in.

All Crave products purchased through authorized retailers have a one-year limited warranty. The Duet comes in black, red or purple and we’re so happy we received the red one because it is a kickass colour for a vibrator.

Accessories:

The Crave Duet comes in a leather storage case! It is so perfect for traveling with little sex toys too! We couldn’t help but mention it in our review. The Crave Duet doesn’t come with a charging cord, because you just plug the metal half directly into the USB port of your computer or the base of your phone charger. This toy is basically designed for traveling!

In Use:

We took an incredibly long time to review this toy because it just wasn’t working for us. Every time we tried it, it just kind of fell flat. When a toy works really well or when it is totally awful, it is easy to write a review. When a toy has so much potential but just doesn’t work… it is really tough to put that into words.

The angles: The Crave Duet provides a lot of different angles to try. You can use the pinpoint tips or you can use the side of the prongs. The pinpoint tips didn’t seem to have enough power in them to work for me. The long sides of the prongs were better, but still weren’t strong enough.

The patterns and buttons: Like most of the toys we’ve reviewed, the patterns just don’t do it for me. I’m much happier when there is a consistent vibration and we get to control the pressure of it. With the Crave Duet, there was only really one setting that was a consistent but it just wasn’t strong enough. I kept pressing “+” for more power but it didn’t help. The “Turbo mode” was a better option but I personally found it annoying to have to find the “+” button and hold it down. The buttons are overall kind of inconvenient for my fingers. They seem to all be connected, which makes it difficult to differentiate which one I’m pressing. I always have to check to see, which interrupts the flow.

The strength: In the end, it was really just the motors that didn’t do it for me. No matter what I tried – the angle, the pressure, the “Turbo”, etc – it just wasn’t strong enough to do what I need it to do. Even when using a separate toy on my G-spot (like I typically require), I just couldn’t get satisfied with this toy. In all the times we tried it… I never had an orgasm from it.

Partnered:

One of the unique things about the Crave Duet is the ability to use a vibrator on my clit while Andy continues to lick my clit. The two prongs are able to sit on either site of my clit, keeping it exposed for Andy to play with.

This is a great idea in theory, but it unfortunately didn’t really work for us. Andy didn’t mind the vibrations being in contact with his mouth, but the vibrations just weren’t strong enough. Despite all of the stimulation, it just didn’t match up to what I like. It was almost as if I got used to the softer vibrations and it just felt more annoying than pleasurable. I was no longer sensitive to the vibrations, so we eventually just removed it.

Andy was totally thrilled with the idea that he could simultaneously use a vibrator on my clit while licking it. Just because it didn’t work for me, doesn’t mean it won’t work for you. If you enjoy softer vibrations, this could be a really neat way to use the Duet.

Lube: As with all silicone products, it is suggested to use water-based lubricant or do a patch test with hybrid or silicone lubes.

Cleaning: When properly sealed, the entire toy is waterproof. The Duet is made out of both silicone and metal so make sure you read up on proper cleaning practices for the two different types of materials.

In Conclusion:

Our review of the Crave Duet took us longer than usual because we kept finding it hard to get motivated to use it. It had so much potential with its sleek design, double prongs and cordless charging system. It just doesn’t work for us though, and we think it is because the design doesn’t allow for the full vibrations to make it all the way through the body (or maybe the motor isn’t strong enough? We can’t pinpoint the exact reason).

It is such a beautiful toy, but we just can’t bring ourselves to use it often. It has the potential for so many great things with its unique curves, but it just doesn’t work for us.

Recommended For: People who like subtle vibrations. People that enjoy the aesthetics of a toy. People who enjoy unique designs.

Not Recommended For: People who require strong vibrations.
