A Major Review of Sliquid Lubes

Sliquid is our favourite lubricant brand!

Seriously, Sliquid is wonderful.

We have to thank all the sex toy reviewers who recommended this company. One of the powers of talking and blogging about sex toys and accessories is that the good brands stand out.

We have a few other lube brands at our house, but we almost always reach for the Sliquid bottles.

*About Sliquid: “Sliquid products are always free of DEA, gluten, glycerine, glycerol, parabens, PEG, propylene glycol, sorbitol & sulphates… and they’re 100% Vegan Friendly.”

*Expiration Info: There is a lot code (production date) and expiration date laser etched into the bottom of the bottle. Typically, you have 3 years unopened and 6 – 12 months once opened.

*Storage Info: Ideal storage is room temperature, out of direct sunlight, bottle closed when not in use, and not stored in high humidity (i.e. bathroom).

We had only tried Sliquid H2O, Sliquid Sassy, Sliquid Silk, Sliquid Soul and O Gel before collaborating with Luxury Vibrators. This brand provided us with travel sizes of Sliquid Organics Natural Gel, Sliquid Organics Silk, Sliquid Organics Natural, Sliquid Organics Sensation, Sliquid H2O (yay! we were running low), Sliquid Sea and Sliquid Silver. They also provided us with sample sizes of four Sliquid Swirl flavours: cherry vanilla, green apple, blue raspberry and strawberry pomegranate.

Needless to say… we’ve been busy.

Note: Luxury Vibrators is a Canadian-founded brand with several distribution centres in Canada and the US! They have a great online support system where employees are trained to help you with your purchases (and they actually learn about the products, so that’s a BIG bonus)!

Sliquid Lubricant Lube Review

While this is not an exhaustive review of every single Sliquid lube out there (that would take us mooooonths to do), we’ve put together a little comparison guide for your Sliquid shopping.

During testing, none of the lubricants became tacky.
None of them caused any reactions or caused any uncomfortable sensations.
Our reviews below are mostly based on texture, taste, and smell. In comparison to the other brands of lube that we own, we really consider Sliquid lubes to be tasteless and smell-less. However, in comparison to each other, we have made slight distinctions.
Water-based lubricants generally need to be reapplied or reactivated with a small addition of water.
Silicone-based lubricants are very slick and generally do not need to be reapplied as often as water-based ones.
Hybrid lubricants fall in between these two in terms of slickness and reapplication requirements.

As we continue to use these lubricants, we will make updates if our longer-term opinions change.

Quick complaint: The lubes are definitely gendered. All of the bottles say “Offering women a healthier choice” or “Created by sensitive women, for sensible women.” Blergh.

Sliquid Lubricant Lube Naturals H2O

Sliquid Naturals

Sliquid H2O:

Water-based lube, thin.
Taste: Mostly tasteless.
Smell: Very, very, very minor lemony-chemical smell.
Texture: Thin, clear. Comparable to Sliquid Organics Natural.
Note: This has been our go-to lube since we first tried it over a year ago, but it’s going to be replaced with our new favourite: Sliquid Sea. We still love Sliquid H2O, but we think Sliquid Sea is just a tad bit better.
Purchase: Canada, US and Intl.

Sliquid Sassy:

Water-based lube, thick.
Intended for anal play.
Same ingredients as Sliquid H2O but formulated with additional plant cellulose to make a thicker gel
The thicker gel provides more padding for anal play. The gel stays in place and is longer lasting.
Taste: Essentially tasteless.
Smell: Like nothing.
Texture: Thick, clear. The thickest of the ones we have tried.
Note: Also good for things other than anal play. We’d recommend using it for any genital penetration, we’d just avoid it for oral sex due to the thickness (unless you’re into that).
Purchase: Canada, US and Intl.

Sliquid Sea:

Water-based lube, thin.
Blended with natural seaweed extracts (carrageenan, wakame, and nori).
Taste: The most tasteless, basic lube that we have tried.
Smell: We can’t smell anything.
Texture: Thin, clear.
Note: This has become our absolutely favourite lubricant. For taste-sensitive people, this one truly does not taste or smell like anything at all.
Purchase: Canada, US and Intl.

Sliquid Silk:

Silicone-hybrid lube, thin.
Essentially Sliquid H2O blended with cream emollients and silicone to create a hybrid.
Taste: Slightly bitter.
Smell: Slight smell of chemicals.
Texture: Thick (in between H2O and Sassy), slight creamy in colour, which makes for a lot of fun.
Note: We tend to prefer hybrid lubricants over silicone lubricants as they are slightly easier to clean up. However, hybrid requires more re-application than silicone-based.
Purchase: Canada, US and Intl.

Sliquid Silver:

Silicone-based, thin.
Long-lasting and 100% waterproof.
Easily cleaned off skin with soap and water but may stain clothing and sheets.
Note: All silicone lubes should be patch-tested for compatibility with silicone toys.
Taste: No taste, leaves oily residue. Would not recommend for oral sex (due to oily residue).
Smell: Very mild smell – not at all like chemicals. Andy thinks it smells like soda water.
Texture: Very thin, clear.
Note: Has been compatible with all of our silicone toys. However, you should always do a patch test on silicone toys to make sure.
Purchase: Canada, US and Intl.

Sliquid Soul:

Coconut oil based formula.
Intended as a topical moisturizer for all skin, including intimate areas (yes, it is safe).
Taste: Does not taste like coconut, but does have a mild earthy flavour. Would not recommend for oral sex (personal preference).
Smell: Very, very light ‘moisturizer’ smell. In a blind test, Andy says it “smells like massage oil.”
Texture: Thin, slight yellow tint.
Note: After using this as a lubricant, our skin feels rehydrated and unbelievably soft.
Purchase: Canada and US.

Sliquid Lubricant Lube Organics Natural
Sliquid Organics

Sliquid Natural:

Aloe vera based and water soluble, thin.
Base formula for the range of Organics products.
Similar to Sliquid H2O but has added organic extracts.
Taste: Very, very mild lemony-chemical taste.
Smell: Very, very mild lemony-chemical smell.
Texture: Thin, clear. Comparable to Sliquid H2O.
Note: In use, we cannot find a difference between Sliquid Natural and Sliquid H2O.
Purchase: Canada, US and Intl.

Sliquid Natural Gel:

Aloe vera based and water soluble, thick.
Intended for anal play.
Same ingredients as Sliquid Natural but formulated with double the amount of plant cellulose to make a thicker gel.
The thicker gel provides more padding for anal play. The gel stays in place and is longer lasting.
Taste: Incredibly mild lemony smell, more earthy than Sliquid Natural.
Smell: Like what we imagine cellulose to smell like. Slightly earthy.
Texture: Thick, clear. Not quite as thick as Sliquid Sassy. For anal play, we would recommend Sliquid Sassy over Sliquid Natural Gel just because Sassy is slightly thicker.
Note: Also good for things other than anal play. We’d recommend using it for any genital penetration, we’d just avoid it for oral sex due to the thickness.
Purchase: Canada, US and Intl.

Sliquid Silk Organics:

Aloe vera based, silicone-hybrid lube, thin.
Infused with organic extracts and emollient esters.
Taste: More chemically than the other Organics.
Smell: Mild earthy smell.
Texture: Thick, creamy colour. Almost as thick as Sliquid Natural Gel (less than Sliquid Sassy). Creamier in colour than Sliquid Silk.
Note: We tend to prefer hybrid lubricants over silicone lubricants as they are slightly easier to clean up. However, hybrid requires more re-application than silicone-based.
In use, it is very similar to Sliquid Silk.
Purchase: Canada, US and Intl.

Sliquid Sensation:

Aloe vera based and water soluble, thin.
*Stimulating lubricant: goes on cool and warms with friction. Although for us, it mostly stays cool and takes a really long time to warm up.
Infused with botanical extracts and food-grade menthol.
Taste: Would not suggest to use this for oral sex due to tingly minty sensation. However, the taste is totally fine, not too strong – like a very mild Listerine.
Smell: Like a package of regular Halls.
Texture: Thin, clear.
Note: Many “heating” lubricants on the market have chemicals that can cause reactions. Sliquid does not use any of these chemicals.
Purchase: Canada, US and Intl.

Sliquid O Gel:

Natural clit-stimulating gel.
Formulated with naturally derived stimulating ingredients including peppermint oil and menthol.
It works by bringing blood to the surface of the skin, which should increase arousal and stimulation.
Does not contain L-Arginine that some other stimulating products use.
Taste: More chemical than the Sliquid Sensations, less tingly sensation. Would not recommend oral sex with this.
Smell: Milder than the Sliquid Sensations.
Texture: Thin, slight yellow tint. Goes on as liquid, not a spray.
Note: Many clit-stimulating gels or liquids on the market have chemicals that can cause reactions. Sliquid does not use any of these chemicals.
Purchase: Canada and US.

Sliquid Naturals – Swirl:

Important info:

Water-based lube
Sugar and sugar-derivative free
Non-staining
Purchase: Canada, US and Intl.
Other reviews: Emmeline Peaches.

Personal Use:

We use flavoured lubes for oral sex. These are water-based lubes which means that they do not leave an oily residual in/on your mouth. However, they do absorb fairly quickly with the mix of saliva. Be prepared to re-apply.

Swirl Cherry Vanilla:

Taste: Imagine a cherry coke mixed with a vanilla coke… but remove the coke flavour. Initially, it tastes a bit like artificial flavours, but I was quickly able to get used to it. It was actually pretty good in the end, but use sparingly. Once I had reapplied a few times, I was pretty done with the flavour.

Swirl Green Apple Tart:

Taste: To be updated (sorry!)
Sliquid says: “Crisp and tart, just like your favorite Jolly Rancher.”

Swirl Blue Raspberry:

Taste: To be updated (sorry!)
Sliquid says: “An adult interpretation of the classic Pop Tart flavor.”
